J.J. Thompson

When we’re talking about the cyber threat landscape, there’s really only one prediction that is 100% guaranteed to come true in 2020: our adversaries will evolve. When it comes to cybersecurity strategy—no matter how large or small the business may be—the question burning at the forefront of every leadership team is not, “What might attackers do,” but instead, “What should we do and how far should we go to protect our business against threats?”

In other words, the biggest challenge in cybersecurity has little to do with attackers and how they operate, but rather how organizations measure the gaps between their security capabilities, resources (people, time, money), and their acceptance of residual risk.

In this session, J.J. Thompson, Senior Director for Sophos Managed Threat Response (MTR), shares a security program design framework that enables business and security leaders to quantify their cybersecurity risk and align security goals to top-level business objectives, strategic outcomes, and return on investment.
