This workshop will leverage the mac80211_hwsim driver and other open source tools to create Linux-based virtual WiFi networks on virtual machines running inside of a small cyber range. Attendees will use various open source tools to survey, monitor, and attack WiFi networks inside of the virtual training environment. Attendees will experience the value of implementing best practices for WiFi security as they inspect the traffic on wireless networks configured to use different protocols for authentication and encryption. They will also perform a war driving scenario and learn how to see the locations of wireless devices on a map. Whether you are new to wireless security, responsible for training teams of defenders and penetration testers, or if you would just like a little more practice honing your skills, this workshop is for you!
