Session Abstract: In this presentation, we will explore the developing data privacy laws in the Latin American region and compare them to GDPR. We will delve into the nuances of these laws that can cause US companies hefty fines or even criminal liability. Through our analysis, we will provide insights and practical guidance on how US companies can adapt to the evolving data privacy laws in Latin America. Specifically, we will highlight key differences between GDPR and the most prominent Latin American data privacy laws, including Brazil's LGPD, Mexico's Federal Law, and Argentina's Ley de Protección de Datos Personales (LPDP).
