Session Abstract: The January 26, 2023, NIST release of its AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF 1.0) came at a particularly auspicious time: AI software called ChatGPT had been released just the month prior, and quickly demonstrated an ability to identify weaknesses in code, generate malware, and craft convincing phishing emails. NIST’s rationale for the development of the Framework was to better manage risks to individuals, organizations, and society associated with AI.
