Wendy Epley is a Principal Analyst with the University of Arizona (UArizona) Information Security Office-Governance, Risk, and Compliance (ISO-GRC) team. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Global Business and a Master of Science in Regulatory Trade Compliance. Her career spans working for Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies such as Honeywell Aerospace, Caterpillar, and Arthur Andersen LLP; however, her passion for the past 15 years has been in regulatory trade compliance, 12 of those years within higher education. She was the first Export Control Officer for the University of Miami, and the first Import and Export Control Officer for New York University. Since 2019, she has worked in Information Security-Governance, Risk, and Compliance at the University of Arizona where she leads the Information Security in Contracting consultation services, manages the University Security Model (federated standards), and, the University's Cybersecurity Body of Risk Guardians (CyBoRG) community of practice. She is the first and only person to date at UArizona who has obtained designations from The Cyber AB as a Registered Practioner (RP) and RP-Advanced and is certified as a CMMC Professional. She is also certified as an Export Compliance Professional in the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)/Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Wendy is an accomplished author of the Export Compliance and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act training programs with the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program. She has also published articles in journals such as the National Council of University Research Administrators and WorldECR. She is an Emeritus member of the Association of University Export Control Officers and is involved with the Regulated Research Community of Practice.
