How Do We Comply With Labor & Employment Laws When Deploying AI in Our Business?

Labor & employment issues for AI focus on its risks for hiring and screening applicants, but other topics are also emerging throughout the employment life cycle. How might AI prompts/tools impact wage, overtime, and exempt classifications? How will you regulate employee use of AI to enhance productivity while mitigating risks posed by GenAI tools? How will you handle employee misuse of AI that causes reputational harm to the company? For union-free companies, how might use of AI impact labor unrest and union organizational efforts? For union workplaces, what are traps for the unwary? These and other topics will be addressed.

Learning Objectives:

  • At the end of this session participants will understand the status of state and municipal AI laws and ordinances around the country
  • At the end of this session participants will appreciate the labor & employment issues that companies will face when employees are using AI to perform their job responsibilities in ways that might disrupt the traditional compensation structure
  • At the end of this session participants will have an appreciation for the ways in which AI will be received at unionized workforces and at non-union facilities
