WORLD PASS: Navigating the Deepfake Dilemma
About

As generative AI rapidly advances, deepfakes—highly realistic synthetic videos and audio—pose a growing threat to privacy, identity, and the integrity of digital communication. In this session, Cliff Steinhauer, Director of Information Security and Engagement at The National Cybersecurity Alliance, will explore how deepfakes are weaponized for identity theft, fraud, misinformation, and reputational harm, impacting not only public figures but everyday individuals.

In this session you will:

  • Understand how deepfakes exploit personal data—even from non-AI users—and why no one is immune
  • Learn the individual, organizational, and technological measures needed to mitigate deepfake risks
  • Explore the evolving legal and regulatory landscape and how to advocate for clearer protections and accountability
