Security and privacy teams are operating in an era of unprecedented regulatory complexity. With more than 20 U.S. states now enforcing their own comprehensive privacy laws, including California, which is embedding explicit security obligations such as mandated audits, organizations must contend with a rapidly diverging patchwork of requirements. In the absence of a unified federal framework governing privacy or AI, leaders are left navigating an increasingly tangled web of definitions, compliance expectations, and operational demands.
