Darrin is a data protection executive specializing in cybersecurity, privacy regulation, governance, compliance, and strategy with unique experience identifying and leveraging the value of data as a corporate asset. He enables organizations to move beyond data protection as a differentiator and transform it into business development opportunities. He is a certified Qualified Technical Expert for board assignments. His key roles have included Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Edgio (EGIO), the world’s largest private content delivery and media network; Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) for Omnicom (OMC), the world’s largest advertising / media conglomerate; and coordinating the healthcare compliance efforts for Amazon (AMZN), the world’s largest online e-Commerce platform. As Chief Privacy Officer and Head of Information Security for Omnicom, Darrin established global cybersecurity policy, led international security incident and breach responses, and advocated the importance of data protection as brand protection. His role provided a public platform and afforded the opportunity to partner with the World Economic Forum on Cyber Resilience. At Amazon, Darrin spearheaded the creation of the Healthcare Governance & Compliance group, Amazon Healthcare Committee, augmented their efforts to achieve HIPAA eligibility for the Alexa platform and the acquisition of Pill Pack. Notably, he collaborated with Amazon Legal to create “Reciprocal Data Exchange Agreements” for strategic partnerships in data monetization. In addition to serving at publicly traded companies, Darrin has consulted for others including Bank of America, Bayer, Carnival Cruise Line, Petco, Pfizer, and Roche. Darrin has global advising experience across four continents and 10 countries including APAC and EMEA, and has specialties in Mergers & Acquisitions, privacy and data monetization. Darrin is an executive member of the Digital Directors Network (DDN), Private Directors Association (PDA), International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), charter member of the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2) Indianapolis chapter and holds memberships in the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), InfraGard and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).  He is a 3rd generation member of a $300M, multi-generational, family-owned business based in the American Midwest. Darrin is a recognized industry speaker, advocate for gender equality, and conducts pro bono consulting on data protection for non-profit boards and organizations. He volunteers his service to the arts and played trumpet for the Amazon Symphony Orchestra.
