Jared Rinehimer is the Chief of the Data Privacy and Security Division in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, and was a founding member of the Division upon its creation in 2020. He has been responsible for numerous data security investigations and related litigation on behalf of the Attorney General’s Office, including the review of thousands of breach notifications received annually by the Office. He also conducts investigations and litigation relating to business data privacy practices. Jared previously was an Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division, where in addition to data security work, he pursued investigations into student loan servicing, online advertising, and online lending practices. Jared received a B.S. in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University, an M.S. in Physics from the University of Washington (Seattle), and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
