About
Shawn Wray is a Senior Cyber Risk Engineer of Cyber Risk Management in the CERT Program at Carnegie Mellon University’s (CMU) Software Engineering Institute (SEI). Shawn is responsible for research and developing plans focused on improving the security and resilience of the nation’s critical infrastructure and assetswith specific focus on risk and resilience.  His work focuses on measuring cybersecurity risk, risk assessment and maturity modeling, value stream mapping, and digital transformation.   Shawn has 24 years of experience as a leader in a distinguished military and civilian career spanning resiliency and crisis management, risk management, change management, and education.  Prior to joining the SEI, Shawn was the Director of Business Resiliency for PNC Bank where he managed the corporate enterprise business resiliency program.  At PNC, Shawn served in several roles including the Senior Enterprise Infrastructure Manager for IT Change Management, a Senior Risk and Control Manager within Operational Risk Management, and as the Manager of Enterprise Crisis Management. In between roles at PNC, Shawn also served as the Director of Business Resiliency, and as the Cybersecurity Program Manager at Ansys. Shawn concurrently serves in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard where his most recent assignment was serving as the Commander of an Infantry Brigade Combat Team. Shawn has held numerous assignments over 26 years within both the National Guard and on Active Duty. Shawn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Russian and Chinese Languages from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.
