Cybersecurity teams operate in an environment defined by rapid change, AI-driven threats, increasingly sophisticated adversaries, expanding regulatory expectations, and greater C-suite involvement. Yet many teams remain consumed by the daily operational “whirlwind,” making it difficult to focus on strategic priorities, develop their people, and consistently deliver meaningful results. This interactive workshop challenges cybersecurity leaders to rethink how their teams operate, reinvent how work gets executed, and lead their teams toward high performance. Through hands-on exercises and real-world examples, participants will explore The Five Dysfunctions of a Team to strengthen trust, constructive conflict, commitment, accountability, and results; Lean IT Standard Work to establish clear, consistent, and repeatable ways of working that improve operational execution and reduce unnecessary variation; and the Four Disciplines of Execution (4DX) to focus on critical priorities, measure what drives results, maintain compelling scoreboards, and create a sustainable cadence of accountability. Participants will leave with practical strategies and tools they can immediately apply to build cybersecurity teams that are more focused, collaborative, consistent, accountable, and execution-driven—teams equipped to move beyond firefighting, improve operational excellence, adapt to change, and strengthen digital trust.
Learning Goals
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify the characteristics of high-performing cybersecurity teams and recognize the common behaviors and barriers that limit team effectiveness.
- Apply the Five Dysfunctions of a Team framework to strengthen trust, encourage constructive conflict, build commitment, reinforce accountability, and focus teams on results.
- Use Lean IT Standard Work to establish clear, consistent, and repeatable practices that reduce variation and improve operational execution.
- Apply the Four Disciplines of Execution (4DX) to establish critical priorities, identify meaningful measures, create compelling scoreboards, and build a consistent cadence of accountability.
- Develop an actionable approach for elevating team performance by integrating teamwork, standard work, execution discipline, and continuous improvement into day-to-day cybersecurity operations.
